BlogPaws: Bringing Passions Together

Anyone who knows me knows that I have 3 passions: Art, pets, and pet charities.

At the HUGELY successful BlogPaws conference in Columbus, OH this past weekend, I got a chance to indulge all 3 passions.

First, I got to meet one of my FAVORITE Twitter pals, @CosmoHavenese (pictured with my commissioned portrait of another Twitter “anipal” sensation, @FrugalDougal).

Second, I was the coordinator of the PawsArt Exhibit and Silent Auction at BlogPaws, which featured artwork by some of the best animal artists in the country.

And third, I met with many people who are doing important work to support animal charities, including: Lynn Haigh, FrugalDougal’s staff and coordinator of the monthly PawPawty on Twitter;  Dr. V. of Pawcurious; Dorian Wagner of Your Daily Cute; Jane Harrell from Petfinder, and Caroline Golon, staff of RomeotheCat, and BlogPaws cofounder.

Lynn, Dr. V., Dorian and Jane put on this amazing presentation entitled, “Be the Change”, challenging each and every pet lover to do something in their own way to benefit animals in need.

The have started a “Be the Change” Challenge, in which I will participate, and will post about later this week. I hope that you will participate too.

Stay tuned! More about BlogPaws and “Be the Change” to come!

"PawsArt" and BlogPaws – First Ever Pet Blogging Conference with Pet Art Exhibit/Auction

Caroline Golon and BZTATBack in October 2009, I met Caroline Golon, “staff” for the the amazing Romeo the Cat.

After meeting online through social media, Caroline commissioned a pet portrait from me as a gift for a friend.

We had the opportunity to meet face to face in Columbus, OH, so I was able to hand deliver the portrait, and we became fast friends.

And we started talking about BlogPaws.

Caroline and some other pet bloggers were kicking around the idea of holding the first ever pet blogging conference in Columbus. She asked if I would like to be a part of the committee organizing the conference.

I enthusiastically accepted!

BlogPaws has now shaped up to be a HUGE event in the pet blogging community and the pet products and services industry. More than 250 bloggers, writers and companies passionate about pets will come together for networking, learning and fun.

Taking place April 9 & 10, 2010 in Columbus, Ohio, BlogPaws 2010 will feature keynotes, panel discussions, breakout sessions and social events.

There will also be a special “PawsArt” art exhibit and silent auction, featuring some of the finest pet artists in the country, with 50% of the proceeds benefiting animal charities.

I am proud to be one of the exhibiting artists at BlogPaws.

Registration is still open, and there is a Sweepstakes to win a free trip to BlogPaws if you enter by March 19, 2010.

Meeting people who love animals as much as I do from all over the world at BlogPaws will certainly be one of the highlights of my year.

I hope to see you there!

Make sure that you follow BlogPaws on Twitter and Facebook to get the latest information about events and activities.

Thanks for a great Paw Parade!

Wow! What a Paw Parade we had on Twitter today! I feel blessed to have so many wonderful friends who made this such a huge success! If you missed it, you can watch the recap video:

The Paw Parade was a virtual parade that I and my Spokescat @BrewskieButt hosted in the Canton, OH Arts District to celebrate our friends’ support of my artwork.

There were lots of bands, floats, balloons, etc. The featured balloons had artwork by BZTAT on them! We had DJ’s spinning parade tunes and street vendors pushing food and beverage carts with the fabulous menu by @JavatheCat!

We also raised money for @RomeotheCat‘s January Furpower charity, Last Hope Inc. !

And, we also had a drawing for a FREE Pet Portrait by BZTAT! The winner? @PepiSmartDog, who, sadly, went to the Rainbow Bridge in 2009. I am honored to paint his picture.

Special thanks to: @FrugalDougal, @Romeothcat, @JavatheCat, @YourDailyCute, @Quadpawd, @FergustheDog and @PerrytheBirman and their staffs for helping organize the Paw Parade!

And Special thanks to all that participated. Your support means so much to me. I love you all!
