Pets with Pizazz: Special pets need special people.

Whiskers
"Whiskers" Drawing by BZTAT

I posted this image awhile back. It is a drawing that I made of Whiskers, a 15 year old cat who needs a home. I drew it in hopes that someone would fall in love with Whiskers and take her into his or her family.

So far, my efforts have not worked.

Whiskers is not on “death row” like many animals who are up for adoption. Still, she is a wonderful animal, and she deserves a home.

I thought I would post her drawing again, since today begins the “Adopt a Less Adoptable Pet” challenge set forth by the Be the Change Panel at BlogPaws West.

There are many animals awaiting adoption across the country who have been classified as “Less Adoptable”. I, like Dr. V. at Pawcurious, am a little dismayed at the classification. I’d prefer to call them “Pets with Pizazz”.

These pets do have pizazz! They are often overlooked because of age, special needs and/or medical conditions that require a little extra attention. But they are as lovable and giving as any other pet, often more so.

I am glad that Petfinder and Be the Change for Pets are focusing on them to help them find homes. These animals have great courage and spirit, and they deserve our extra attention.

Life has been a challenge for Whiskers. She reportedly endured neglect in her past life, yet her current caretakers say she is now the most grateful of felines.

It is time to give her a change and let her see the good side of humanity. Can you help Be the Change for Whiskers?

If not Whiskers, do you know another “Pet with Pizazz” who you can help out?

Although Whiskers is located in the Richmond, VA area, assistance to relocate her to another area is available. You can learn more about her and how to contact her foster family here at CrystalsAndJewelry.com Blog & News.

Whoever gives Whiskers a permanent home will receive her portrait shown above as an extra bonus.

Feel free to re-post the drawing of Whiskers, if you would like, to help her find a home. Please do credit the image with “Artwork by BZTAT” with a link to this blog.

I used because of the leg pain (or rather due to the unbearable constant pain caused by the tumor in the knee joint).

Let’s find this fabulous feline a permanent home.

Whiskers was featured in the video below by the “Be the Change for Pets” panel. The whole video is very moving.

It brings me to ask, what is your gift, and how can you use it to help pets in need?

Be the Change for Whiskers: An Amazing Cat; An Amazing Story

Whiskers
"Whiskers" Drawing by BZTAT

Every cat has a story, I am sure. if only we knew what really was being thought behind the mysterious contemplative eyes of each feline that we encountered in life…

I am sure that we would be humbled.

The cat pictured above is a regal feline named “Whiskers”. Resilient and strong for sure, Whiskers has endured neglect in her past life, yet her current caretakers say she is the most grateful of felines. She asks little, but gives much.

WhiskersWhiskers is a quiet cat who seems nonplussed by other cats and is well acclimated to domestic life. She is a mature lady, approximately 15 years old, and certain to give someone a lot of love in her remaining years.

Sadly, her foster family who has been nurturing her back to health cannot keep her.

When my friend Robyn Harton shared her story with me, it moved me in much the same way as Little Meow’s story did. I wanted to draw her picture, and I wanted to help her find a home.

Life has been a challenge for Whiskers. It is time to give her a change and let her see the good side of humanity. Can you help Be the Change for Whiskers?

Do you know someone who might be wanting Whiskers’ love? She is in the Richmond, VA area, but can travel to a good home in the United States. Can you help her find a home?

You can learn more about her and how to contact her foster family here at CrystalsAndJewelry.com Blog & News.

If you are not inclined to be involved in pet rescue, that is fine. I hope that you will still share in the celebration of this amazing cat’s life through my artwork.

To me, the best art is motivated by a deeply felt experience, and that certainly is the case with the story of Whiskers.

UPDATE: Little Meow the Parking Lot Kitty Has a Furever Home!

Little Meow Last week I wrote a post about Little Meow the Parking Lot Kitty. I have followed the real life story of this cat for over a year via one of my favorite blogs Your Daily Cute.

When her situation turned to where she desperately needed a home, I was moved to action. I drew the drawing here in hopes that it would help draw attention to her need.

People around the world helped to tweet and send out Facebook updates in search of a home for her. many a blog post was written about her.

Even Catster featured her on their blog.

I am happy to report that Little Meow has found a home, and it was all because of her own lovability.

Little Meow was taken to a foster home as an interim placement until a permanent home could be found. The young couple who fostered her did not think initially that they would be a good match for her long-term, however, Little Meow apparently turned on the charm. After meeting her and experiencing her irresistible sweetness, they realized that they just couldn’t let her go.

So Little Meow has a furever home! As a bonus, it is in a place where her dear friend Dorian, who has tended to her for years, can visit and continue to be her best pal.

Thank you so much to those of you who responded to my call for help and searched your networks for a home for Little Meow.

I enjoyed making Little Meow’s drawing, and I enjoyed using my artwork for such a great purpose. I may do similar works in the future to help animals in need. Do you have ideas as to how I could do that? I am open to suggestions.
