The "Downtown Cats" Are Preparing for their Debut!

The “Downtown Cats” mural for which I have been chronicling my work in progress is finally ready to debut in the Downtown Canton Arts District!

The painting is complete and I am putting a final finish on it to make it weather-resistant. Plans are to have it hung on the building this coming weekend.

The mural will be officially dedicated during the First Friday festivities on August 6, 2010 at 7:30 pm, immediately following the Arts Street Parade.

Speakers including ArtsinStark President and C.E.O. Robb Hankins, Tim Belden, owner of the Joseph Saxton Gallery of Photography, and myself will dedicate the mural to an audience filled with cats and dogs as well as human participants. Pets available for adoption from Friends of the Pound and Second Chance for Animals, Inc. will be present to celebrate the event, and to hopefully find loving homes.

Attendees for the Dedication will each receive a commemorative bookmark. I also wanted to make the event available to those who have followed the progress of the mural online from distant places, so  those who cannot attend can view a live broadcast of the event on USTREAM.

Date: Friday, August 6, 2010

Time: 7:30 pm

I hope that you will join me in celebrating this special event. Thanks for following my progress and for cheering me on! You can see a slide show of the development of the mural below.
