It occurred to me that I had been very diligent about chronicling my cat Brewskie Butt’s virtual travels around the world, but had not been at all diligent about chronicling my own travels. Guess I should say something about the fact that I am in Las Vegas right now.

Vegas is not really my kind of town, to be honest. It seems to me like a lot of gaudy and superficial trappings with a lot of people trying to be something they are not. I love to travel and I enjoy visiting different places, but Vegas has never really been on my list of places I wanted to visit. So why am I here?

I am attending the Licensing International Expo, learning all the ins and outs about the business of licensing artwork. Basically, I am exploring the possibility of licensing my artwork to develop products around my images. So far what I have learned is encouraging and it seems worth pursuing.

A year and a half ago, I posted a vision board here, and one of my visions was to explore licensing. It took me awhile to get around to it, but here I am.

I look forward to this new adventure. Stay tuned to see where it leads me!

  2. A ha! I’ve been wondering what you were doing in Vegas. I completely understand what you say about it not being your kind of town. I am there at least once a year because Scott is there like 12 times a year for business. I don’t really gamble and I’m not a late night partier. However, if you have some time, there are some fun things. The Titanic exhibit at the Luxor is fascinating and educational. The M&M and Coke stores are fun. The Miracle Mile is entertaining to walk even if one doesn’t have $3000 to drop on a handbag! If you can spring for a show (and try the half price day of tickets at the place in front of the M&M store), anything by Circque is worth it, and the Blue Man group is awesome.

Just my .02 and probably coming too late at the end of your trip…

    • Thx for the tips Jill. I think if I had travel companions, and a bit more money to spend I would have found ways to make it fun. If I come back next year, I will try to get some friends to coordinate their vacations there. Ironically, one of my best friends is coming to Vegas for a different conference in a couple of weeks!

  3. Vicki – check out Fremont St – lots of art places there! When you leave the Strip area – you will find normal folks 🙂
