As I mentioned in my last post here, I am dedicating my “Safe Animals Safe Kids” mural tomorrow during the Canton First Friday festivities. I have invited local animal rescue groups with adoptable pets to be a part of the event, as well as representatives from the Domestic Violence Partnership, Inc.
If you are unable to come to Canton, you can still be a part of things by watching the live USTREAM broadcast beginning at 7:15 pm.
Okey, the little rescue cat who inspired the whole project, is now my dear sweet companion. She still shows some behaviors that reflect a history of trauma, but she has come a long, long way!
She is so fun to paint, too! I will have 3 paintings of her (pictured above and below), in addition to the mural, at the dedication. All will be for sale. Contact me if you are interested in purchasing any of them.
I call all of these paintings “Promise Keeper”. I guess I could number them, but I would lose track. Okey keeps her promise to bring me joy every day, and I work to keep my promise to her to keep her safe and loved.
You can read about the whole Okey’s Promise project here. I will soon be introducing another major Okey’s Promise project. Stay tuned!
I will also have several other paintings of cats and dogs for sale at the Creative Ohio Gallery (310 4th St, NW, next to ACME Artists) during First Friday. Please stop in and check those out as well.
I hope to see you tomorrow, either in Canton, or in cyberspace!
