Born Free: Feral Cat Drawing #18

I trapped 4 cats today. The elusive orange fellow from yesterday’s post and this gray tiger striped cat have been wily and have avoided the traps! As far as I can tell, they may be the last two in the colony, so we are winding down. I will keep at it until I catch these two, and any others I may have missed.

As cute as kittens are, we are all very happy that there should be no new ones this spring in this colony.

Unfortunately, I could draw and draw and draw for the rest of my life and still not capture images of all the cats that need attention in my community. The best way to help them is to advocate for people to spay/neuter their pets, and to advocate for proactive community Trap-Neuter-Return TNR programs.

This drawing is #18 in my series of feral cat drawings of a colony of cats with which I am intervening. I am placing each drawing up for auction bids. The details are below. If you would like to contribute to the rescue fund for the real-life cat intervention, you may do so with the ChipIn widget in the sidebar. Thank you for your consideration.

You can read more about the feral cat intervention process on my Okey’s Promise: Art for a Cause blog.

By the way, I am a part of a process to encourage the adoption of a public Trap-Neuter-Return program in the City of Canton in which I live. You can read my letter to the editor on the issue, which was published in the Canton Repository, if you would like. My hope is that many more people will recognize the benefits of TNR as a means of public animal control.
