Born Free: Feral Cat Drawing #13

Born Free: Feral Cat Drawing #13
Born Free: Feral Cat Drawing #13

This little kitten was one of the first bunch in this colony that was picked up. She and 4 other kittens went to the Tuscarawas County Humane Society cat shelter, where they are being treated for some infections, being spay/neutered and then being adopted. Her eyes were shut because of the infections, but she probably is all healed up by now!

This drawing is #13 in my series of feral cat drawings of a colony of cats with which I am intervening. I am placing each drawing up for auction bids. The details are below. If you would like to contribute to the rescue fund for the real-life cat intervention, you may do so with the ChipIn widget in the sidebar. Thank you for your consideration.

You can read more about the feral cat intervention process on my Okey’s Promise: Art for a Cause blog.

By the way, I am a part of a process to encourage the adoption of a public Trap-Neuter-Return program in the City of Canton in which I live. You can read my letter to the editor on the issue, which was published in the Canton Repository, if you would like. My hope is that many more people will recognize the benefits of TNR as a means of public animal control.

Born Free: Feral Cat Drawing #12

feral black cat drawing by BZTAT
Born Free: Feral Cat Drawing #12

I only managed to trap one cat in yesterday’s trapping. Boo is a friendlier black cat who is not really feral. He will allow you to pet him. He could possibly have had a chance at adoption to a home, but he seems to enjoy being an outdoor cat. Seeing as though black cats are the hardest to get adopted, we will return him to his pals in his colony.

Today’s drawing is a bit bigger than the rest. I opted to use a full 9″ x 12″ sheet of paper. I will start the bidding at the same price, however, this one will not come with a mat.

Gray feral cat drawing by BZTAT
Born Free: Feral Cat Drawing #11

Big Gray is an affable fellow. He has yet to be trapped and taken in as a part of my TNR effort. I am doing another trapping today and I hope he is among the next crew. He seems to be a leader in the colony and he missed his pals when they were away last week.
